Technology or no technology in Cricket

Well, well…I have finally cooled down after watching the second test between India and Australia..What a match though..! I was sitting through the final 6 overs with my heart in my mouth…it was exciting, gripping and nerve dangling to say the least..The match ended the way it did..no complaints there…Australia were the more aggressive team and they won..What took away from the great test match and to a certain extent the Aussie win was obviously the umpiring…what a shame for Steve Bucknor..spare a thought for the guy..At no point do you want to be in his shoes and I am wondering what he must be going through…In anycase, he seems like a stubborn man…he knows he needs to go..but for whatever reason, he wants to prove that he can still do the job, and in the process has comitted so many mistakes…thats one side of the argument..the other side is the technology available! All the obvious umpiring errors, we as viewers could sit at home and figure out whether the decision was right or not..so why cant they empower the umpires with this tool? Its ridiculous! In this day and age, there are millions of advertising dollars riding on each series. The players careers ultimately lie in the hands of the umpires and even a single bad decision can spell the end..More importantly, a single bad decision meant Australia went on to score 463 instead of 134/7 which would have had a serious bearing on the game. We as viewers have become more demanding..we question every bad decision given because we can see it..when bad decisions affect the outcome of matches, I as a viewer and supporter will ultimately lose interest Gone are the days when cricket was played for cricket alone - the administrators HAVE to do a logical re-think on where the sport is heading, and how they can keep up with the times..
