What about it? India is playing Pakistan and I think for the first time in the series, today, i.e Pakistan with a lead of 500 odd runs, is going to be worth watching…
What do I think is going to happen?
I am an optimist - Sehwag is going to fire..Sachin is going to fire..Ganguly is going to score some runs and make some very wild indications towards the dressing room once he reaches his century and probably show both his middle fingers to chappell..Irfan Pathan and Dhoni are going to string a partnership and seal the game together..
No,I am not joking..India is capable of chasing down 600 runs in 2 days…all we need is our world class batting line up to fire..
At the least, I hope we draw the game…but I wouldnt mind Ganguly doing the finger salute…that would be the talking point of the series..
For some reason, this series has not lived up to its hype..Perhaps the fact that the first 2 matches were so boring…I hope the one day series is much better…
I missed Pathan’s hat-trick..need to find that clip somewhere..
Don’t forget my prediction - Ganguly=Century, Wild gestures towards the dressing room..

This past weekend, I crossed a landmark on my car - 36,000 miles …no more bumper to bumper warranty…spare a thought for my car though..i’ve driven it alot and it must be secretly praying that it doesn’t get driven so much…but in anycase, I love my car…its alot of fun to drive..I could use an MP3 player in it though..
I’ve been ‘monitoring’ Indian Idol religiously…well, monitoring might be an understatement…I’ve been quite obsessed with it…Its alot of fun to watch…something or the other happens…but what amazes me is the drama..I wrote about it in a previous post, and I keep shaking my head…it never ceases..although this last episode when Neha got voted out, there was comparitively less drama..no tear jerking parental interviews…
There is another show that I follow also…yes…I am becoming an Indian t.v freak…its called Sa re ga ma pa…its somewhat like Indian idol where contestants get voted out every week..well, last week a different kind of drama happened on that show..basically what happened was that 3 of the contestants were so dissapointed with the guy who came first, that they decided to stage a walk-out and quit the show…But ofcourse, the shows producers used this as an opportunity..turned the usual hour long result show into a 2 part series…got the audience involved on what happened…It was drama to the core, but I must say, Its much better than watching Simom Cowell insult contestants on American Idol!!
Talk about flucutations in temerature…65 one day ..bright and sunny and springlike..and then 40 the next day with a nice wind…Its frustrating…Thats the only thing I dont like about the east coast…the cold..I could use some nice florida sun…maybe the fact that I grew up in Trinidad has something to do with this.
Life is aight…lots of work..long hours…don’t know how long this can continue…but its challenging..and so far its teaching me alot..

My cousin - Priyank arrived from India yesterday to pursue his masters at the State University of New York. Its alot of fun to spend a few days with him, talking about family and other things..makes me feel a little older almost..
Took him shopping today to the mall..and instead of him shopping, I think I must have shopped more than him! OLD NAVY had this crazy ass sale going on where everything in the store was 50% off..I went berzerk picking up alot of clothes..it was fun..
Tonite, we are planning on watching the cricket action between India and Pakistan. Priyank and I stayed up last night and watched a little bit..Apparently, Shahid Afridi went berserk after we went to sleep and we were regretting the fact that we went to sleep..He hit Harbhajan for 4 sixes in a row, and admitted later on that he was going for 6 in a row, but the ball got wet after the 4th six and he didn’t get a hold of the 5th ball..In any case, the third day of the match seems interestingly poised with India batting..I want to see Ganguly bat!
This weekend would see some road trips to NY and VA…looking forward to some more good times with Priyank..

OK..so I have to admit that I have been an indian idol 2 freak …Have watched every single show that has aired so far and must say that its quite interesting..
The format is the same as American idol (down to the music after every commercial break)..but obviously, there is a big indian flavor to it..
The talent this year is amazing..there have been a couple of really good singers that did not make the final 12 and that was heart breaking..but out of the 12 now chosen, I really enjoy listening to a few of them..
The one thing about Indian Idol is the melodrama the show producers try to create..You have to see it to believe it..especially when they are announcing the results…the contestants are shaking with fear..but the show’s host’s would calmly ask the contestant..”so, do you think you’ll make it?” // “do you think you’ll be able to fullfill your mom’s dreams..” and then the camera shoots the mom sitting in the audience..and then the contenstant, unable to speak due to nervousness declines to answer and the announce instead of getting on with it, swings over to the mom and asks her “so , do you think your son/daughter will make it..? ” “do you think he/she will fullfill your dreams?” ..
I mean, for sheer drama…but I am lapping it all up..its great fun to watch..the contestants /the judges..
ah, the judges…
Anu Malik - he just says all this sweet poetry (shayars) to the girls..He pretty much praises every girl..with the exception of one..who he said that she sang way out of tune..funnily she made it to the last round..
Sonu Nigam - he is my favorite judge..he actually judges the contestants on their singing prowess and tells them where they are going wrong..and he can be funny at times too..
Farah..she is all about the showmanship in the contestant..confusingly referred to as ‘performance’, she says things like ‘your performance is amateurish” ..”Your singing qualities are good..but we are not going to listen to you on the radio..your performance needs to improve” and then there are some who she praises by saying…”itni choti si…or itna stage presence” (so small, yet you have such a stage presence)..Farah is the quintiessential Paula Abdul - rarely giving a comment about their singing qualities..but definitely having a say about the ‘performance’..
In anycase, with all the drama, the tears..the judges remarks..its a fun show..and can’t wait till the final round starts in 2 weeks..
