Statistics for September have been bad..only 2 posts..thought I’d put one just for the heck of it….Its been crazy the past few weeks..Consulting can definitely be demanding, but rewarding..

Just read in the news this morning that another storm is brewing between Sourav Ganguly and Mr. Chappell. My personal opinion - just get rid of Ganguly. He hasn’t been performing and I don’t think he deserves a place in the side as a player,let alone be captain.

$5 a gallon if Rita hits Houston directly. The most I paid a couple weeks back was $3.69. I remember the days when I used to drive down to Munster,IN and fill up for 88 cents a gallon. Yes, 88…

Has anyone noticed that statues are mostly male?

I feel a little empathy for George Bush…first 9/11, then Iraq, then Katrina and now Rita..He has seen quite a bit..

DC is congested..the circuit city near my house is probably 1/5 the size of a normal CC. The best buy is a two floor affair with underground parking! I am not used to shopping for electronics like this.

Well, it was an interesting weekend moving…driving almost a 1000 miles - it was certainly tiring, but glad that its over. The packing/unpacking was’nt too bad. The drive was awesome! Didn’t feel like we drove 400 miles. My apartment is great . Its only about 12 miles from my current work location, so the commute , by DC standards is a mere 15 minutes.

I did have an interesting experience from the DC cops. I was driving to the greyhound station, dropping off someone who helped me move - and we lost our way a teeeny weeny little bit and ended up by the Pentagon! I notice a heavy police presence, so I am driving around really slow, making sure not to make myself too obvious..well, it turned out, I was driving a little too slow. I got pulled over by the cops, who happened to notice that my tags were expired. Well, I explained to the officer that my I just moved a night ago, and my registration is updated, but the sticker and card is at home. He went back to his computer in his car, did something..comes back..and asks me whether I have any funky in the car? Knives, drugs, weapons? I’m like…no..he politely asked me to step out of the car..stand about 10 feet away, while he completely searched my car…After completing his futile search, he handed me over my license, told me that I got away with a $95 ticket and told me to drive safe. I took my stuff and left thinking to myself “is this how DC is going to be?” or was it just a random occurence..

In anycase, I consider that a grand welcome to the capital of the United States!!!!

Its here..This weekend is when I say ‘goodbye’ to charlotte. Moving is absolutely not fun.. maybe a little, for the excitement of driving a truck. Those things are beasts..and they can go fast..no matter how bulky they look.

The only thing I am worried about is gas prices..3.20 / gallon..and the damn truck has something like a 40 gallon tank..Do the math..

Other than that, I am glad this little period of transition is coming to an end, and I finally have a home in DC. Can’t wait to move in and get settled in. The past 6 weeks have felt a little different because I was staying with a friend in DC and coming back to charlotte every couple of weekends to visit my mom - who was very nice to stay back here and help me pack.

By the way, I am reading the CNN reports on the victims of Hurrican Katrina, and was very surprised to find everyone use the term ‘refugees’. It just has a weird ring to it.not sure why though.

Anyways, back to packing..next post would be hopefully from DC.
