So my little nephew graced us with his presence on August 14th.. I am currently in CA spending time with my sister, bro-in-law and mom..Its a wonderful feeling to spend time with the little guy..absolutely fantastic..he is so tiny..! and my mom and I joke that he is the first US citizen of the family..actually since he was born on August 14th..(Pakistani Independence day!) , we tease him that he has some Lahori connections! Watching Aadit Krish is a treat..all his little facial expressions..his way of communicating that he is hungry..or needs to be changed is amazing…Holding him for the first time and making eye contact with him was wonderful..I think mentally I grew up a few years in those precious few seconds…and watching mom playing the perfect role of a grandmother does not fail to amaze me..to see her interact with Aadit..take care of him like her own..actually makes me proud to be her son..and only think of how much love and attention she must have brought up my sis and I..
So..back to enjoying the nephew’s company..its been over 2 months since I blogged..but really had to share this..will post pictures pretty soon!

I was driving to boston over the long weekend and somewhere in connecticut, on one of those state highways..I was driving when this car overtook me and literally 5 seconds later, I saw blue and red lights flashing behind that car. Lets just say that if it wasn’t for that car, I would have been the one pulled over…It was a completely lucky break and I couldn’t thank my stars enough. The last thing I wanted was a speeding ticket. I slowed down after that and realized how valuable even seconds can be..

I was thinking the other day that we spend a lot of time and effort in general to be around other people..’be with a little company’ as they say..nothing wrong with that absolutely…living in the US especially for people like me can get lonely..but lately, i’ve been spending a lot of time with myself..i.e going on long drives..chilling at home and just doing normal things instead of partying, drinking, going out and what not..its been an eye opener..last weekend, I drove for 11 hours straight from Indy to DC and I was in the car by myself and it was an amazing experience..I never thought that my mind could churn up so many thoughts..so many ideas and so many old memories…it almost felt that the car was driving itself and I was self indulging with myself!

Everyone is moving. In a state of flux. Some moving cross country, some moving across continents. Feel bad that some good friends are moving away.

I met a friend of mine after a pretty long time this past weekend. We were just talking about our old college days, how life was, the stupid stuff we did. I realized that even though we may be struggling or going thru difficulties in life, every moment can be remembered and cherished. When you talk about those moments after a long time, its only then you realize how special every significant or insignificant memory can be.

I was going down the elavator this morning and this elderly gentleman held the door for me while I ran towards the elevator. During the ride down, he said “you are 90 seconds ahead of the game…..use it wisely”. That’s all he said, smiled and walked away.

My watch battery ran out this morning. I came to work without wearing a watch. I think this is the first time this has happened! Feels weird. For starters, my hand feels lighter. I keep twisting my arm to adjust my non existent watch. I feel awkard losing a sense of time, but on the other hand, it seems as if time has slowed down. I should do this a little more often !

After a long time, I had a nice and fulfilling weekend. Friday night was spent with a friend catching up over a few drinks. Saturday morning was cricket! Having not picked up a bat in almost 4 years, I was excited like a little kid when he sees a toy he wants. The match was great! I got to bat in the last two overs and managed to score 3 runs ! just to be on the field and be part of the team was exciting enough for me! Saturday evening was spent watching the zee cine awards. Sunday was the relaxing day. I caught up on my episodes of MTV roadies and jo jeeta wohi superstar. Did a bit of shopping, chatted with a few friends and family. All in all, a nice relaxing weekend. I could tell this weekend was different because the blackberry was tucked away and hardly looked at!

I got a chance to connect with my uncles and aunt in india last night. I hadn’t spoken to them in a while and it was a beautiful feeling to talk to them. The amount of love they gave me was just amazing and was truly touching.
